Firm History

In 1975, Dickson DeMarche, current LaurelRock Company CEO and co-owner, founded Dickson DeMarche Landscape Architects (DDLA) in Westport, Connecticut, to provide land planning and site design services for residential, commercial and municipal clients. In 1984, taking advantage of the firm’s many years of experience in site construction, DDLA added a construction management division. This step was motivated by a desire to consistently produce higher quality projects. By the late 1980’s, DDLA was well established as one of the leading landscape architecture firms in Fairfield County.

In 1993, with a mission to become the premier provider of residential landscape design and construction services, Dickson and his son, Burt DeMarche, current President and co-owner, founded The LaurelRock Company. Carried forward by the strong reputation built by DDLA, Burt and Dickson increased the firm’s offerings and grew The LaurelRock Company to where it is today—an award-winning, full service residential design/build and property management firm.

The LaurelRock Company offices are located in Wilton, Connecticut, serving a core market area of Fairfield and Westchester Counties. The Design/Build Division, headed by Dickson, has received both state and national awards recognizing its high quality design and construction services. The Property Management Division, led by Burt, has been awarded national recognition for excellence in residential maintenance and employee and fleet safety.

Today, with over 30 dedicated professionals on staff, The LaurelRock Company demonstrates an unwavering commitment to excellence and leadership within the industry and has earned its reputation as a premier landscape company in the Northeast.
